WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO LEAD THE NARRATIVE?
“The narrative is the agenda, the agreed upon goal or destination, the utopia, the desired outcome. What feeds the narrative, leads the narrative. The collection of stories a leader curates, delivers, recalls will define who buys in to the narrative and eventually becomes a part of the community. If you lead an organization, a company, a family you must have a vision for the next phase as well as the big picture.
The narrative helps others to find the path, provides directions for getting there and empowers their synergy in the journey. The narrative clarifies the vision, articulates the check points and encourages the perseverance to carry on. Tell the stories which do all of these things, or someone else will hijack your vision, your team and your narrative. The stories they tell will be misleading, distracting and destructive.” J Loren Norris
