Do your homework and prepare your plan. Know what you need and what you plan to do with it. How can you help? What do you offer as a solution? How will the investment you are seeking going to be applied to the solution you are offering? As you gather support, team members, finances, plan to execute your strategies be specific as to the application. Know your numbers from the overall grand vision to the day to day details. That’s what matters.”

When raising children, the idea of protecting them from all sorts of damage, pain, trauma, lost time is the #1 priority of parents. As children grow older, the intent is to advise them, inform them, train them and prepare them to continue this protection on their own. The role of a leader, especially as a mentor is the same. Providing insight, warnings, cautions, admonishment is essential to the development of future leaders. Selfish, envious, egotistical leaders often see a well developed, well rounded, secure, confident young leader as a threat to be squelched. Guarding the heart, mind, eyes and ears of developing young leaders will give them the surety of survival in a world which sees them as a threat.”
